AVCC is Excited to Bring Full-Time Board Certified Veterinary Oncology to South Florida!

October 22, 2019

Advanced Veterinary Care Center in Davie is pleased to now offer full-time board certified veterinary oncology.  Our comprehensive cancer service will be led by Sindy Piscoya, DVM, DACVIM (Oncology).

“Although our community is already blessed with a number of capable veterinary oncologists, the need for prompt oncology services still exceeds the availability, especially in the more critically ill patients where time is of the essence,” says AVCC Co-Director Dr. Jeff Toll. “Dr. Piscoya is a talented, passionate, and compassionate medical oncologist on the cutting edge of modern veterinary oncology.  She’s committed to expanding the availability of specialized care in our community,” adds Dr. Toll.

Dr. Piscoya, a bilingual, residency trained veterinary expert is originally from Lima, Peru.  She grew up in Queens, New York.  Dr. Piscoya graduated from Stony Brook University where she earned a Bachelors of Science degree in health sciences. At Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, she earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree.

Dr. Piscoya’s Experience

Following graduation, she completed a small animal rotating internship at Animal Emergency and Specialty Hospital in Waltham, Massachusetts. The loss of her beloved Scottish terrier to lymphoma drove her to specialize in medical oncology. She completed a specialty oncology internship at Georgia Veterinary Specialists in Sandy Springs, Georgia.  Then, Dr. Piscoya completed her medical oncology residency at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. Prior to joining Advanced Veterinary Care Center, Dr. Piscoya practiced in Texas and Washington.

Her special professional interests include hematopoietic malignancies, oncological clinical pathology, mast cell tumors, and all aspects of palliative care. Her main goal is to teach clients about the diagnosis of their pets and provide treatment options acting as an advocate to ensure they receive the best health care possible.

Dr. Piscoya is a proud owner of a miniature schnauzer named Arie and a domestic medium hair cat named Remy Michiru. In her spare time, she enjoys going to the movies, baking and traveling the world with her husband.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Piscoya! If you have any questions about our oncology service, please feel free to reach out to us anytime at 954-500-VETS (8387).
